Can Long Covid Activate Mast Cells That Release Histamine?

Attention to all my readers suffering from Long Covid!

Over the past couple of years, I've received countless messages from people who've contracted Covid and then suffered from histamine intolerance and significant health issues afterwards.

Early research shows that there is a link between histamine intolerance and Long Covid.

Research has shown that Long Covid can activate mast cells that release histamine, causing hyper-inflammation and post-Covid illness rooted in mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).

This can cause anything from headaches to life-threatening inflammation and disease.

I interviewed Dr. Tina Peers on my podcast about this (Zestology episode #335). She has acknowledged that post-Covid, histamine may be significantly raised, which becomes damaging in specific individuals.

So what can you do about this? Clearly, beyond what you've learned in this post, you need a sympathetic practitioner and/or doctor depending on the severity of your symptoms.

Histamine issues are so individual, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. But know that you are not alone and many others have found themselves with Long Covid histamine stuff going on.

Good luck and stay strong.
