Histamine intolerance and wine do not normally go together. But it is possible to occasionally drink red wine and white wine if you are on a low histamine diet. Incredibly there is an innovative company that specialises in low-histamine wine.
This wine from Dolce Vita Wine Club has up to 97.5% less histamine in it than normal wine, and it’s all certified and tested as well.
These wines are only produced when they have no more than 0.5 mg/l of histamine level (the normal histamines level in red wines is from 4 mg/l to 20 mg/l) This means a highly reduced risk of headaches and migraines, and other histamine intolerance symptoms.
TONY’S THOUGHTS: I have been cautiously testing this wine (the Barbera D’Alba Low Histamines Veglia was the first one I tried) and I really like it. However I am careful with it and don’t drink much - call it years of experience of histamine reactions. So don’t go crazy, start slowly!
