Avocado and Histamine Intolerance: What to Try Instead
Avocados, you are joking, right? I had always presumed that avocado was the healthiest food I could eat.
I bought them in bulk. High and good fats, low in carbs, the perfect food right? But not if you’re histamine intolerant. Unfair, isn’t it?
Try instead:
Some good low-histamine texture swaps are pumpkin and butternut squash.
But I get these are not the same as a lovely creamy avocado. (Note: as always, everyone is different - you may be fine with avocados)
If you must eat them, try the less-ripe green ones, thought to be lower in histamine, not the very dark ones which are super-squidgy.
