EMF (Electro-Magnetic Fields) and Histamine Intolerance

When we look at our environment, it’s worth considering how much we should worry about electromagnetic fields (EMFs), mobile signals, and Wi-Fi in our home.

This is a difficult one. I can’t honestly say I personally feel any differently when I put my phone in my pocket to when I don’t. But would I sleep with a wifi router next to my head? Absolutely not.

EMFs are, unfortunately, pretty much all over the place. They come from the ever-increasing amount of tech we accumulate. That means every device that sends or receives signals like Wi-Fi or a cell phone signal. But is this a particular problem when it comes to histamine intolerance? Let’s look at the evidence.

There are numerous studies linking EMFs to an increase in mast cell activity and histamine release, although these cannot be described as conclusive. 1 In one particularly interesting study, the presence of histamine-containing mast cells went up in volunteers sitting in front of TVs and computers. 2

More papers such as A theoretical model based upon mast cells and histamine to explain the recently proclaimed sensitivity to electric and/or magnetic fields in humans 1would be welcome.
