Hoovering and histamine intolerance
Yes I’m well aware this is a ridiculous title for a post. 😅 But some people might find it helpful so I’m writing it anyway.
This is a post all about dust.
I haven’t given too much thought to dust until recently, when we invested in a lockdown purchase - a new vacuum.
I know. This is what my life has come to. I’m writing blog posts about household goods. 🙈
But the way our house (which we have been living in for a year) looked so different after a good seeing to with the new hoover was quite shocking.
The carpets looked completely different. But here’s the surprising thing. I’ve been sleeping WAAAY better ever since. I was getting very blocked up before, and it must have been all that dust. 🤔
If you have an allergic reaction to house dust, the immediate response is said to involve “an immune response involving production of IgE antibodies and high levels of histamine in your body”
I’ve been basically living with that for a year. Ugh. 😬
Anyway, I know all this housework chat is particularly exciting, but it might be worth giving your house an extra clean and vacuum tonight and seeing how you breath.
NB - we bought a hoover that can do upholstery too, so we vacuumed the bed which may have helped.
