How to reduce your hay fever symptoms
Conditions have been perfect for hay fever this year with a very high pollen count. It was the driest May since records began here in the UK, so all that pollen hasn’t been washed away by any rain. People have been complaining that this year they’ve suffered with worse seasonal allergies than ever before. Piers Morgan even complained it was his ‘worst year ever for hay fever’, and his symptoms had got so bad he mistook them for coronavirus symptoms.
So what can you do? Many of my followers will know all of this already, but I know there are so many hay fever sufferers going through it at the moment that I wanted to go over the low histamine basics so you can quickly start to feel better.
As well as the usual tablets you can buy in the chemist, not many people know that they can alleviate the symptoms through diet. Those symptoms you are suffering from are coming from a histamine response in the body. There are certain foods that are high histamine or provoke a histamine response and they could be making things worse. The good news is, it’s simple to see if you can reduce your symptoms through diet.
Simply follow a ‘low histamine diet’ for a few days and see if you start to feel better.
Cut out these foods. (Yes I know it looks a lot but you can start to reintroduce it once you get your histamine levels down.)
The Three-Day Easy Low Histamine Diet
Broadly speaking, you want to avoid for three days;
Fermented foods
Avocados
Chocolate
Fish
Leftovers
Citrus
Cheeses
Alcohol (I know - just for three days)
This lot is so effective for me that when I had a rum and coke (or two) on Saturday night, my hay fever symptoms were way worse on the Sunday. I might have to wait until it rains for my next one!
Good luck. If you want to really ramp up this test, you could even take a natural supplement to help reduce your histamine levels at the same time, like Quercetin. And check out the full A-Z histamine food list here.
